![]() Hirbour Barber Shop
In 1901 Emanuel Hirbour constructed one of the first metal-framed skyscrapers west of the Mississippi in Butte, but unfortunately he passed away prior to its completion. This distinctive office building was used until the mid 1960s and is scheduled to be renovated again into offices and condominiums. The first floor is now home to Kally's Corner, a boutique. Recently renovated below the sidewalk is the Hirbour Barber Shop Museum. The barber shop was in business here from the early 1920s to the late 1950s. Restored after a damaging fire, the barber shop has a mid-fifties setting. Come visit and discover the secret of why so many came for a "clip" but ended up with a "buzz"! The Hirbour Barber Shop is part of our City Underground Tour. |
